No obituário da Rolling Stone de 1981, o biógrafo de Bob Marley, Timothy White, escreveu: “A imagem difundida de Bob Marley é a de um alegre Rasta. […] De fato, ele era um homem com sentimentos religiosos e políticos profundos que saiu da miséria para se tornar uma das figuras mais influentes da música nos últimos 20 anos.”

A influência de Marley como cantor, compositor, profeta da cultura pop internacional só cresceu desde que essas palavras foram escritas.
