Coletânea de britpop ignora Oasis e Blur

Estão lá Pulp, Super Furry Animals, Suede, Paul Weller, The Stone Roses, Supergrass e até a novata Duffy e os “esquecidos” Menswear e These Animal Men. Mas Oasis e Blur ficaram de fora da coletânea Common People: the Britpop Story, que traz três álbuns com ícones do rock inglês.

Não raramente tomadas como líderes do movimento, as duas bandas britânicas fomentaram rixa durante anos – Noel chegou a desejar que Damon Albarn e Alex James, integrantes da rival, morressem de AIDS em 1995, durante entrevista ao jornal The Observer.

Enquanto o grupo dos irmãos Gallagher anuncia que não quer saber de álbum novo por pelo menos cinco anos, o Blur, há sete anos afastado da cena, retoma a carreira com série de shows em festivais.

Batizada com o maior hit do Pulp, Common People, a ser lançada em 8 de junho, tem encarte com notas do jornalista, cineasta e músico Bob Stanley, da banda Saint Etienne – no auge do britpop, ele escrevia para a Melody Maker, a pioneira revista de música, fundada em 1926 e que encerrou o expediente em 2000.
